Black Sabbath for Rock N' Roll HoF

It looks like the 10th time was the charm for Black Sabbath. They've been eligible for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame since 1995, and guitarist Tony Iommi says they've finally been elected. A message posted on the official iommi.com website reads, "We are delighted to confirm that Black Sabbath will be inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall Of Fame at the 21st annual induction ceremony in New York next March. There are plans to broadcast an edited version of the ceremony on VH-1. We'll keep you posted as the details come in!"

Black Sabbath and original frontman Ozzy Osbourne were both inducted into the UK Music Hall Of Fame recently, and the ceremony began airing on VH-1 and VH-1 Classic over the weekend.

Others on the list who are eligible for induction in 2006 include (in alphabetical order): Blondie, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Chic, the Dave Clark Five, jazz trumpet player and bandleader Miles Davis, the Sir Douglas Quintet, the J. Geils Band, the rap group Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, Lynyrd Skynyrd, John Mellencamp, the Sex Pistols, the Patti Smith Group, the Stooges, and Joe Tex.
