Darkness singer buys leaked album
The Darkness singer Justin Hawkins paid 350 British pounds, or the equivalent of $610, for a copy of his band's new album on eBay - weeks before the album's scheduled release date. According to BBC News, Hawkins said he'll track down the seller through a unique ID code on the disc. Hawkins told the BBC, "It's encoded so we'll have a name and a number - so we'll know which disc it is, who distributed it and who they distributed it to. And that person is going to go down. He is either going to get some sort of legal intervention or he certainly won't receive an album from our record company ever again." The album, called One Way Ticket To Hell...And Back, arrives on November 29th.
A limited number of advance copies of the disc were sent to record company executives and journalists. The copy that Hawkins purchased originated in Australia.
The new CD follows up the Darkness's 2003 platinum debut, Permission To Land. The band has yet to announce North American tour plans.
