New Deep Purple album released

Out in record stores is Rapture Of The Deep, the new album from Deep Purple. Bassist Roger Glover told us that the record has an especially live feel to it, and he credited producer Michael Bradford for making the band work fast:
[ click here to listen if you have a Backstage Pass] "Day One - 'OK, what are we gonna do?' And someone started playing a riff, we all joined in, and it went its usual course, which means we jam around it for a couple, three hours, get a rough arrangement, go into record mode. Take One - bang, there we go. And we'd just about get through the arrangement, and Michael would say, 'Ah, that's it. That's good.' And I think that goes a long way towards explaining why this album is so kind of fresh-sounding, 'cause it really was live."

Bradford also produced the last Deep Purple album, Bananas, which came out in October 2003.

The group will kick off a two-year-long world tour in January, with North American dates being worked out for March.
