Roger Waters premieres new work

Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters' new opera, Ca Ira, premieres on Thursday, November 17th, with the first of two shows in Rome, Italy. Waters told us that these will be vocal performances rather than fully staged productions, but he hopes it will be enough to interest others in bringing Ca Ira to the stage: "They're concert performances. They'll be the orchestra and the chorus and the singers. What I have to do is go on working as hard as I can, make sure that those performances are as good as I can make them and hope that the press and other promoters or people who come to see it go, 'Wow, we can put this on. This is great!'"

The bassist said there is a possibility of Ca Ira (set in the French Revolution) being staged in the United States in 2006.

Pink Floyd were inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame on Wednesday (November 16th). The group reunited for this year's Live 8 concert in London, but there are no plans for future projects.
