System Of A Down guitarist talks
System Of A Down release their second album of 2005, Hypnotize, next week, with the band saying all along that this CD and the earlier Mezmerize make up one unified body of music. Despite that, guitarist Daron Malakian said that dividing the songs between two records wasn't too difficult: "Once you start getting into a flow, it all kinda starts putting itself together. And yeah, you take songs in and out of there, but it's a matter of saying, 'OK, I'm comfortable with this flow,' and having some kind of confidence, you know what I mean? You can't keep switching your mind and, you know, people give you an opinion and you've got to change your mind with every opinion. At a certain point, you have to have confidence in what you like and how you want to hear it and go with that." A DualDisc version will feature behind-the-scenes footage from the making of both Hypnotize and Mezmerize, which came out in May.
The artwork for both discs combines to form one unified image, while the last song on the new album, called "Soldier's Side," completes "Soldier's Side Intro," which opens Mezmerize.
System Of A Down plan to tour the US again in early 2006.
