Aerosmith guitarist nominated for Grammy

Joe Perry's self-titled solo album this year was a brief diversion from Aerosmith, but it did net him a Grammy Award nomination. The guitarist is up for Best Rock Instrumental Performance for the track "Mercy." It's a nice cap to a project he told us he enjoyed - and wishes he'd had more time to promote:

Joe Perry came out in May. It's his first solo album since 1984, when he was out of Aerosmith.

His competition in the Best Rock Instrumental Performance Category includes former Police drummer Stewart Copeland's "Birds Of Prey," Les Paul & Friends' "69 Freedom Special," Steve Vai's "Lotus Feet," and Adrian Belew's "Beat Box Guitar."

Aerosmith perform on Saturday, December 10th, in Chicago.
