BB King says he's been ignored by radio

B.B. King says that, unlike many of his peers, he tours because he doesn't exactly have a catalogue of radio hits earning him royalties. He explained to The Associated Press that, "People thought I was truly a workaholic. But I never got the exposure in my kind of music, that other types of music (received). I never had that." he added that, although bestowed with just about every honor a musician can be awarded, he's been virtually ignored by radio: "I've had one record that was played like other records. It was called 'The Thrill Is Gone,' (that's) the only one I ever had that was played on radio stations like other types of music, unless I was playing with somebody else."

King said that he's still proud of his trademark blues licks, adding that, "I try my best to make that story as an actor or an actress would tell the story... Every night I go onstage, I do my best. Every night."

Earlier this year, in honor of his 80th birthday, the blues guitarist released a CD of duets titled 80, featuring Van Morrison, Roger Daltrey, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, Hall & Oates, Elton John, ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons, Glen Frey and others.

B.B. King will be playing next on December 27th in Reno, Nevada at the Silver Legacy Casino. He has dates booked through the end of May.
