Bob Dylan musical set for next month

Following the trend of recent jukebox musicals based around the songs of John Lennon, Billy Joel, the Four Seasons and the Beach Boys, a Bob Dylan musical is set for next year in San Diego. Playbill reported that the show, titled The Times They Are A-Changin', is not based on Dylan's life, but features various characters from his best known work. The show, "... chronicles a low-rent traveling circus run by Captain Arab, and his son Coyote's longings for a world outside of the family business. The story also details Coyote's love for a young animal trainer, Cleo, who is exploited by Arab."

The Times They Are A-Changin', which is directed by veteran choreographer Twyla Tharp, who directed Joel's Tony Award-winning Movin' Out musical, will play from January 25th through March 5th, with an official opening night set for February 9th at San Diego's Old Globe Theater.

There is no word yet on a Broadway run. Tickets are available at oldglobe.org.
