Rolling Stones film on auction block
A short film showing Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards being electrocuted on stage in 1965 is being auctioned. The Super 8 film is up on the Itsonlyrocknroll.com memorabilia site and is expected to sell for about $10,000. The macabre incident took place at a show in Sacramento, California. Richards' guitar strings came in contact with a microphone that wasn't grounded, and the shock knocked the guitarist to the floor unconscious. Bassist Bill Wyman later wrote that Richards' guitar strings were "curled up, melted like fuse wire." Medics later said the rubber soles of Richards' Hush Puppies likely kept him from suffering more serious harm. The Rolling Stones resume their North American tour on January 10th in Montreal. The group also plays the Super Bowl XL Halftime Show on February 5th in Detroit, Michigan.
The classic rock legends play dates in South America and Mexico in February and begin a European tour on May 27th in Spain.
