ZZ Top to re-release two 70s albums
Two of ZZ Top's most popular early albums, 1973's Tres Hombres and 1975's Fandango!, will be re-released in remastered, expanded editions on February 28th. Both will feature previously unreleased live performances of songs from those respective albums. Tres Hombres was the Texas trio's third release and first to hit the Billboard Top 10, peaking at Number Eight. It was the group's first gold album and also featured its first hit single, "La Grange." The new edition will include live versions of "La Grange," "Jesus Just Left Chicago" and "Waitin' For The Bus."
Fandango! was a half-studio, half-live effort that hit Number 10 on the Billboard Top 200 and also went gold thanks to the Top 20 hit, "Tush." The new Fandango! will include live versions of "Tush," "Heard It On The X," and Elvis Presley's "Jailhouse Rock."
ZZ Top are working on their next studio album. Guitarist Billy F. Gibbons recently published a book, Rock + Roll Gearhead, that's part memoir and part document of his guitar and car collecting hobbies.
