Green Day singer on cartoon soundtrack

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has contributed a solo song called "Mechanical Man" to the soundtrack of the new animated film, Live Freaky, Die Freaky. The soundtrack has been packaged with a special edition DVD of the film that came out at the end of January, but the song has been made available for downloading on Green Day fan sites around the Internet.

Live Freky, Die Freky is a bizarre film featuring stop-motion puppets and starring the voice of Armstrong, along with members of A.F.I., Rancid, Good Charlotte, Blink-182 and others.

The Green Day frontman plays a young man in the year 3069 who discovers a copy of Helter Skelter, the book on the notorious Manson Family killings, and decides to interpret it as a new Bible, with Charles Manson as the Messiah.

The film received theatrical screenings at the end of January in advance of its release on DVD.
