The Rolling Stones named top earners

The Rolling Stones have taken the top spot in a survey of the biggest earners in the music business last year. Forbes magazine has just published their list of music's biggest moneymakers, and the Stones are Number One with $168 million. U2 came in a close second, having brought in $150 million last year. The list, which also includes the Eagles, Paul McCartney, and Elton John, was compiled using a combination of tour data and record sales to come up with the dollar amounts.

4) Green Day ($99 m)
5) The Eagles ($84 m)

9) The Dave Matthews Band ($74 m)
10) Elton John ($66 m)
