ZZ Top vehicles on display in museum
Some of the more distinctive vehicles belonging to ZZ Top are currently part of a museum display. The band's CadZZilla, which is a customized 1948 Cadillac, and a matching Harley-Davidson motorcycle that's known as HogZZilla, are both included in Cars & Guitars Of Rock 'n Roll II at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. Both the CadZZilla and the HogZZilla are part of the extensive collection featured in the book Rock & Roll Gearhead that ZZ Top singer-guitarist Reverend Billy F. Gibbons published late last year.Gibbons told us that he has an ongoing fascination with both music and metal: "Yours truly, Billy F. Gibbons, that bearded boy from the ZZ Top bunch, has been part of this makin' loud noises -- both with guitars and cars -- since we started (chuckles). We're still tryin' to figure out how it all works, but somehow it makes a lot of sense -- or it makes some kind of sense."
The band members are quite familiar with the Peterson, having lent the museum CadZZilla and some other vehicles back in 2001 for the original Cars & Guitars Of Rock 'n Roll display.
ZZ Top plan to release a new album and to tour this year.
On Tuesday, February 28th, the albums Tres Hombres and Fandango! will be reissued in remastered and expanded form, with previously unreleased live performances.
