Aerosmith frontman has strained cords

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has been so sick that the band cancelled a number of shows this month, but talk that he's dealing with life-threatening illnesses is nonsense. There's been no official word as to what laid Tyler low, but Aerosmith management told The Boston Herald that it's "absolutely untrue" that he's got either throat cancer or bird flu, rumors of which have been circulating online. It's thought Tyler has a particularly nasty problem with his upper respiratory system, and the newspaper quoted sources who claimed the singer has "severely strained vocal chords" that doctors ordered him to rest, and he's also been battling the flu. The story added that he was spotted recently in a supermarket, and an eyewitness said, "He sounded like he had laryngitis and he had someone doing the ordering for him."

The Aerosmith/Cheap Trick show on Sunday, March 19th at the Bell Centre in Montreal was cancelled, bringing the count to seven dropped dates so far. The bands are scheduled to play on Tuesday, March 21st at the John Labatt Centre in London, Ontario.
