Beatles lyrics fail to sell at auction
Handwritten lyrics to the Beatles song "A Day In The Life" didn't sell at auction. The sheet of paper that John Lennon used when he wrote the words to the song was expected to bring in more than $2.5 million, but when bidding at the Bonhams auction house in New York City closed on Tuesday (March 7th), the reserve price hadn't been met. It's unknown what will happen to the paper now.Lennon began writing the lyrics on the morning of January 17th, 1967, after reading a newspaper report on the death of his friend Tara Browne, who was an heir to the Guinness fortune. Lennon then worked on the song with Paul McCartney that afternoon.
