Paul Rodgers featured on TV special

Paul Rodgers is one of the guests on a new PBS special debuting this weekend that pays tribute to the Motown group the Four Tops. It's called The Four Tops 50th Anniversary Celebration, and it shows Rodgers doing two songs -- "Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever" and "I Want To Make It Up To You." Rodgers told udthat the Tops are among his musical heroes, and that they really surprised him at the show: "When I was doing 'Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever,' they walked out and stood behind me and did the backing vocals for (sings) 'Loving you is sweeter than ever, I've never felt like this before.' (laughs) And I was just gobsmacked, you know? They're... it was just great for me, 'cause I'm a huge fan, and to turn around and see the Four Tops backing me -- I mean, it was just incredible."

The Four Tops 50th Anniversary Celebration took place at the Detroit Opera House in July 2004. The show also includes appearances by Aretha Franklin, Ashford & Simpson, Dennis Edwards & the Temptations Review, Sam Moore, former Supremes member Mary Wilson, and original Tops lead singer Levi Stubbs, who's battling health issues and is confined to a wheelchair.

The special will be released on DVD on May 2nd.
