The Rolling Stones hit 1m mark in Tokyo

The Rolling Stones may have been on the road for the better part of 40 years, but they're proving as hot a concert draw as they were back in the mid-'60s. On the opening date of their Japanese tour Wednesday night (March 22nd), the band played to their one millionth fan in Japan's Tokyo Dome - that's a career record, within the one venue alone.

The Japanese newspaper The Daily Yomiuri reported that prior to the show, the Stones gave a press conference where Mick Jagger said that the tour is one of the band's most memorable, explaining that, "One of the highlights for me was playing that Rio concert. That was a pretty big show and a bit different from what we normally do, and it was hard for us to get a sense of it all until we'd finished the show and went out on the balcony (of the hotel) and saw one million people on the beach."

Mick Jagger added that: "That was a fantastic show and something we will remember, and the madness of the Super Bowl was another. That was a really crazy event."

The Stones played on Friday, March 24th, at Japan's Tokyo Dome. After Japan, the band will play their first-ever show in China, before heading down under for a brief four-date tour. After that, they'll embark on a 34-date European tour that wraps up next August.
