Sting is reason Police have never reunited
The Police have had many opportunities and invitations to reunite over the years but have never taken them. Miles Copeland, brother of drummer Stewart Copeland and the group's former manager, told us that frontman Sting is the primary reason a reunion has never happened and probably never will: "Sting doesn't want to do it. He's done his thing, and for him it would be admitting his solo career wasn't as big as the Police and he had to go back to that. And he'd hate, he just hates to admit something like that." The band broke up in 1984, following the success of the trio's Synchronicity album. The group played three shows on the 1986 Amnesty International tour and has reformed for some one-off private events, including its 2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
Miles Copeland's chief project these days is the Bellydance Superstars, a touring dance troupe. He's also producing a special on Arab music for PBS and is managing actor Steven Seagal's music career.
