Camp Freddy perform first gig in 2 years
Los Angeles-based "covers" band Camp Freddy gave a surprise performance in New York City on Tuesday night (April 11th), first performing on a platform above the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square before moving inside for a two-hour private concert as part of an event sponsored by General Motors. This marked the all-star group's first New York appearance in two years. The Camp Freddy lineup for the show revolved around guitarist and founder Dave Navarro, Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum and Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland.
Guest performers for the evening's show included Velvet Revolver bassist Duff McKagan, Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell, former Fuel singer Brett Scallions and Moby.
Celebrities attending the event included Lindsay Lohan, Drea de Matteo from The Sopranos, actress Estella Warren, the New York Giants' Tiki Barber and others.
A Camp Freddy album has been in the works since last year, although no official release date has been announced.
Navarro's new band, the Panic Channel, will release its debut disc later this year. The guitarist is also returning to co-host the second season of Rock Star on CBS.
Velvet Revolver has reportedly begun recording its second album, although rumors of turmoil within the group and the exit of several members to participate in a Guns N' Roses reunion continue to persist.
