David Gilmour not planning tour changes

After finishing a run in Europe, Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour is taking his solo tour to North America, kicking off on Tuesday, April 4th, at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. Gilmour has been winning rave reviews from fans and critics for the show, which is supporting his latest solo album, On An Island, and he told us that he has no plans to make major changes for the dates on this side of the pond: "No, no, not in any big way. It seems to be working quite well. I mean, I was worried about doing pretty much the whole new album as the first half but it's worked very well, and so I expect we shall continue to do that because now that the album will have been out over a month by the time we get to the States, they should know it quite well by then, hopefully."

On An Island, his third solo album, was released March 7th. His first two solo albums, 1978's David Gilmour and 1984's About Face, are being re-released tomorrow.

In addition to the new album, he is also playing Pink Floyd's "Echoes," "Wish You Were Here," "Shine On You Crazy Diamond," "Comfortably Numb," "High Hopes," and "Wot's...Uh The Deal." He is playing saxophone on the On An Island track "Red Sky At Night," and Pink Floyd keyboardist Rick Wright, who's part of the band, is singing his own "Wearing The Inside Out."

Roxy Music guitarist Phil Manzanera, who co-produced On An Island, is also part of the band.

Gilmour will play a total of 10 North American shows in six cities. He has five UK dates scheduled for May.
