Korn confirm return of Family Values

Korn have confirmed the return of the Family Values tour, eight years after headlining its inaugural run in 1998. The group will be joined on the main stage by the Deftones, Stone Sour, Flyleaf and Japanese band Dir En Gray. For the first time, Family Values will also incorporate a second stage, with acts yet to be announced. Korn singer Jonathan Davis said that hip-hop artists will be featured.

Guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer told us that he felt Korn had enough loyal fans to merit the band launching its own festival: "The other day I was thinking to myself, 'Wow, there's, like, AC/DC fans -- the diehard, which I'm part of -- there's Kiss fans, there's Metallica fans, there's Rolling Stones fans and now there's Korn fans.' I think we're right up there, our fans are so dedicated, I think we're entering that -- hopefully maybe a classic rock band someday."

In addition to Korn, the first Family Values package featured Rammstein, Limp Bizkit, Ice Cube and Orgy. Two later editions, in 1999 and 2001, included acts like Staind, Stone Temple Pilots, Linkin Park, Filter and Method Man.

This summer's tour will offer lawn tickets for a mere $9.99 at each stop. Davis told said that the group's recent partnership with the Live Nation concert organization is allowing them to keep prices down.

Korn is supporting its seventh studio album, See You On The Other Side, which came out last December. The Deftones will be promoting the September 12th release of their yet-to-be-titled fifth effort, while Stone Sour will be backing its second album, Come What May, due out July 18th.
