Korn to unplug for the first time

Korn will perform acoustically for the first time in its career when it plays on AOL's Acoustic Sessions program. No date has been set yet for the band's appearance, but singer Jonathan Davis said that he's looking forward to doing it, explaining, "When that was first brought up to us, I was like, 'Hell no,' but then I got more into it. I thought it would be cool because what we did with the new album, we didn't want to set any kind of boundaries of what Korn should be."

The band will play "Alone I Break," "Thoughtless," "Falling Away From Me" and current single "Coming Undone" for the unplugged performance.

Guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer told us he'll have another chance to play acoustically a little later this summer at the wedding of Korn bassist Reginald "Fieldy" Arvizu: "I'm actually gonna play Spanish guitar. He asked me to play, so I'm gonna play nylon string Spanish guitar for him, and do the wedding dum-dum-de-dum, and then after that I'll get drunk (laughs)."

Korn entered a Los Angeles studio last Wednesday (April 12th) with hot rap act Dem Franchize Boys to create a mash-up of "Coming Undone" and the Boyz' single "Lean Wit It, Rock Wit It." There's no word yet on where or when the Korn/Franchize Boyz mash-up will surface.

Korn will release a collection of rare and concert tracks on May 9th called Live And Rare.

The band will announce the dates and venues for its revived Family Values tour on Wednesday, April 19th. Deftones, Flyleaf and at least one other act are all rumored to be included on the trek, which will tentatively begin on July 28th in Virginia Beach.
