Pantera "behind the music" in May

VH1 has set a May 11th premiere for an episode of Behind The Music focused on Pantera. Exact air times have yet to be announced, according to Blabbermouth.net. The premiere will follow the May 2nd release of the self-titled album from Rebel Meets Rebel, a country-metal crossover featuring the last completed recordings by late Pantera and Damageplan guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott. Also out that same day is a tribute DVD to Abbott called Dimevision. Abbott's brother, Pantera and Damageplan drummer Vinnie Paul, told us that all this activity is about keeping Abbott's memory alive: "It's very important to me to make sure that Dime's legacy lives on forever, and I think without anybody even tryin', it will, you know. But I just want to make sure that the things that are still here that he was part of, can increase that and just be one more thing that lends credence to his legend, you know."

"Dimebag" Darrell Abbott was shot and killed by a deranged gunman on December 8th, 2004 during a Damageplan concert in Columbus, Ohio.

Rebel Meets Rebel features Abbott, Paul, Pantera bassist Rex Brown and "outlaw" country singer David Allan Coe. The album, which was completed over a four-year period, features the single "Get Outta My Life."

Meanwhile, Dean Guitars has announced the release of the Rebel Razorback, a guitar designed by Abbott. Photos can be seen at DeanGuitars.com. Four different models of the guitar, which lists for $6,667, have been produced.

Pantera's 3 Vulgar Videos From Hell was reissued last week, containing all three of the band's home videos in one new package with, for the first time, 5.1 digital surround sound. The set also includes live footage from the band's performance at the 1991 Monsters Of Rock festival in Moscow, the first open-air rock concert held in the former Soviet Union. A separate DVD of that show, which also featured AC/DC, Metallica and the Black Crowes, comes out on June 6th.
