Red Hot Chili Peppers come full circle on new album

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have come full circle with the recording of their new album, Stadium Arcadium, according to an interview with MTV.com. The group cut the new double-CD set in the same studio where they recorded their 1991 breakthrough effort, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, at the Los Angeles mansion of producer Rick Rubin. Singer Anthony Kiedis said recording there for a second time was definitely different from the first experience: "We were in a different psychological state the second time around than we were the first time around...we went through all of these different times and episodes and hardships and joys, and then we kind of came back together and found ourselves as a band, as songwriters, as friends and figured out how to be better co-workers."

Kiedis added that the band "didn't have the same types of demons going through us as the first time we came here."

Stadium Arcadium is due out May 9th and features 28 songs. One disc is called "Jupiter," while the other is called "Mars." The band recorded a total of 38 tracks and considered releasing a triple album.

The video for the album's first single, "Dani California," features the Chili Peppers portraying various legendary artists from rock history, such as Elvis Presley, the Beatles and Nirvana.

The band has revealed the cities, but no dates or venues, for their upcoming North American tour. According to the band's official web site, the trek will begin in August, with a second round of shows slated for October.

The group is confirmed to headline the Lollapalooza festival in early August at Chicago's Grant Park.

A May 6th appearance on NBC's Saturday Night Live is also in the works.
