Red Hot Chili Peppers play stadium gig
The Red Hot Chili Peppers unveiled a half-dozen new songs for an audience of just 300 people in London, England on Friday night, April 14th. The group played a tiny, private show for an audience of BBC Radio contest winners, sprinkling its 90-minute set with six tunes from the upcoming Stadium Arcadium album. Security for the event was said to be tight, with the street in front of the Canvas club blocked off for 100 yards. In addition to the new songs, which included current single "Dani California," the Peppers ran through a selection of hits from their previous eight records.
Stadium Arcadium is due out May 9th and features 28 songs. One disc is called "Jupiter," while the other is called "Mars."
The band has revealed the cities, but no dates or venues, for its upcoming North American tour. According to the band's official web site, the trek will begin in August, with a second round of shows slated for October.
The group is confirmed to headline the Lollapalooza festival in early August at Chicago's Grant Park.
A May 6th appearance on NBC's Saturday Night Live is also in the works.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers will also play between laps at the NASCAR NEXTEL All-Star Challenge, scheduled for May 20th at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina.
