Soul Asylum to release new album
Soul Asylum will release The Silver Lining, its first new studio album in eight years, on July 11th. The set will feature some of the final recordings of bassist Karl Mueller, who died last June of throat cancer. Guitarist Dan Murphy said in a statement, "It will always remind me of Karl when I listen to it. He was really sick, but still pulled through and finished it in Soul Asylum fashion."
One of the new tracks, "Stand Up And Be Strong," is currently available on the band's MySpace.com page.
Soul Asylum will kick off a spring tour on Wednesday (April 12th) in its native city of Minneapolis. Dates are scheduled through August.
Soul Asylum's last studio effort was 1998's Candy From A Stranger.
The band first formed in 1983 and had a huge hit with the song "Runaway Train" nearly a decade later.
