David Bowie announces first show of 2007
David Bowie's lengthy hiatus will come to an end a year from now, thanks to a new arts festival he co-founded. Bowie will curate and perform at the first-ever High Line Festival in New York City next May. Bowie said, "As (festival organizers) David (Binder), Josh (Wood), and I have been formulating our plans, I've been particularly excited about seeking out emerging artists and giving them a place in a festival that will also feature some very well-known names. That will be an ongoing mission of the High Line Festival -- to offer performances and exhibitions that are unique and original to New York. I am proud and honored to be the High Line Festival's first curator and I am eager to start building the line-up for Spring 2007." That line-up will include Bowie's first performance in what will be four years in his adopted hometown of New York City, at what's being planned as a large outdoor concert. The singer recently announced that he's taking this year off, with no recording or touring plans on the horizon.
