Eric Clapton's debut LP to be reissued
Eric Clapton's debut solo album will be expanded in a Deluxe Edition this month. The two-CD package has a remastered version of the 1970 LP, along with a never-before-heard alternate mix done by musical partner Delaney Bramlett, with whom the guitarist had toured. The new set also includes the bonus tracks "Blues In 'A'" and "Teasin'," along with the previously unreleased studio versions of "Don't Know Why" and "I've Told You For The Last Time," and an unheard early version of "Let It Rain" that had a working title of "She Rides." In addition, the album now has the Delaney & Bonnie And Friends Featuring Eric Clapton singles "Comin' Home" and "Groupie (Superstar)." The Deluxe Edition comes out May 23rd.Eric Clapton has recorded with musicians including singer-keyboardist Bobby Whitlock, bassist Carl Radle, and drummer Jim Gordon, who would also work with him as Derek & the Dominos, as well as singer-keyboardist Leon Russell and longtime Rolling Stones sax player Bobby Keys. It peaked at Number 13 on the album chart, thanks to the success of the cover of J.J. Cale's "After Midnight," which made it to Number 18 on the pop chart.
The guitar god is currently on a European tour that hits Birmingham, England, on Thursday, May 11th. North American dates should happen later in the year.
