Foo Fighters frontman a good guy
Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl sent a message to the two Australian miners who were recently trapped for nearly two weeks in a collapsed mine shaft. Miners Brant Webb and Todd Russell requested that iPods loaded with Foo Fighters songs be passed down to them as they waited for rescuers to get to them. Grohl was informed of this and sent a personal message that was read to the miners to help keep their spirits up. The frontman wrote, "Brant and Todd, Dave here, from the Foo Fighters. Hope you guys are hangin' in there, and hope that the music is helping you two out...my heart is with you both, and I want you to know that when you come home, there's two tickets to any Foo's show, anywhere, and two cold beers waiting for you. Deal? Looking forward to sharing them with you. Come home safe, and we'll see you soon. Dave Grohl."
His message to the trapped miners is completely in character for him, according to Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins: "Dave's a good guy. He's one of the good guys, you know. He's not one of the fuckin' assholes, so people like him, as they should. You know? He's one of the good guys."
Russell and Webb were rescued on Tuesday morning (May 9th). They had been trapped in a steel cage since April 25th, when a small earthquake triggered a rock fall in the Tasmanian gold mine where they worked, killing a co-worker. Rescuers worked for more than a week to free them.
Foo Fighters are reportedly preparing for an acoustic US tour, although dates and venues are yet to be announced. The group has some European gigs lined up this summer as well.
Dave Grohl and his wife, Jordyn, became parents to their first child, Violet Maye, on April 15th in Los Angeles.
