Franz Ferdinand taking long break

Franz Ferdinand will take an extended break from recording and touring after completing their summer festival schedule. Frontman Alex Kapranos told the U.K.'s Daily Record, "We have been on the road or in the studio continuously for three years and I think everyone needs to spend some time with their wives or their girlfriends and live a bit of ordinary life again. Doing that recharges your batteries and gives you new material to write from, if nothing else."

Kapranos said that the Scottish quartet will take at least three months off and stay home. He added, "I feel that if I kept this life on the road and nothing else then I'd have nothing to write about."

Franz Ferdinand have been touring the world since last September in support of their second album, You Could Have It So Much Better.
