Keith Richards hospitalised after fall

Keith Richards was hospitalized last week in New Zealand, after reportedly falling from a palm tree while on vacation in Fiji. The Associated Press reported that a spokesman for the Rolling Stones said that "...Richards suffered a mild concussion. Following treatment locally and as a precautionary measure he flew to a hospital accompanied by his wife Patti (Hansen) for observation." The guitarist was reportedly vacationing at the island's exclusive Wakaya Club resort.

The Melbourne Herald Sun reported that the guitarist sustained the injury after falling about 17 feet from a palm tree that he was climbing alongside bandmate Ron Wood. Richards was reportedly flown to Auckland's Ascot Hospital on Thursday (April 27th). There's no word on whether Richards is still hospitalized.

This isn't the first time that Richards has been known to take a tumble. Back in 1998, the European leg of the Stones' Bridges To Babylon tour was delayed when Richards injured his ribs and chest in a fall from a ladder in the study of his Connecticut home. In the mid-'70s, he broke his nose on the edge of an amplifier when he finally passed out after reportedly staying awake for a week straight.

The Stones last played on April 18th, in Wellington, New Zealand. They're currently on a break until their 34-date European tour resumes on May 27th, in Barcelona. The band will be on the road in Europe through the end of August.

Although there's been no official announcement, there are rumors that the Stones may be hitting America again later this year, as well as maybe scheduling dates in South East Asia as well.
