Keith surgery will cost the Rolling Stones

Keith Richards' recent head surgery could cost the Rolling Stones up to $9 million in cancelled gigs. Richards was discharged on May 8th from a New Zealand hospital after undergoing surgery to relieve pressure from his skull, due to a fall he sustained last month while vacationing in Fiji. Britain's The Independent reported that the delay in Stones' European tour, which was set to begin on May 27th in Barcelona, Spain but is now bumped to June, could mean that up to six shows could be scrapped from the itinerary.

An industry insider reportedly said that, "The Stones can make up to $1.8 million per show. Obviously the tours are a real money-spinner, so they will be very keen to make sure they can keep the losses to a minimum."

Although there is no official word from the band's camp as to when the European leg will kick off, Pollstar displays a June 1st date in Brussels as the band's next show.
