Red Hot Chili Peppers return to "haunted" house for new CD
The Red Hot Chili Peppers recorded their new double CD, Stadium Arcadium, at a Hollywood Hills mansion that once belonged to mysterious magician Harry Houdini. Although the house is reputed to be haunted, Chili Peppers singer Anthony Kiedis said that the band had its reasons for working there again: "It's really just this beautiful, old, decrepit, rundown, kind of archaic building that was from the '20s, and we built a studio in this building in 1990 to record Blood Sugar Sex Magik. And this time around, we decided to return to the scene of that previous Blood Sugar crime."
Blood Sugar Sex Magik, the fourth Chili Peppers album, turned the group from a cult act into one of the most successful rock bands of the last 15 years.
Other artists that have recorded at the "Houdini House" include System Of A Down and the Mars Volta.
Stadium Arcadium arrives in stores next Tuesday (May 9th).
The Chili Peppers' North American tour will begin in August, with a second round of shows slated for October. The group is also confirmed to headline the Lollapalooza festival in early August at Chicago's Grant Park.
