Slash shoots down Velvet Revolver, Guns N' Roses rumours
Velvet Revolver lead guitarist Slash went on the Camp Freddy Radio program on Saturday night (May 12th) in Los Angeles and addressed the many rumors circulating recently about his status in both Velvet Revolver and his former group, Guns N' Roses, reports Blabbermouth.net. Slash appeared with Velvet Revolver and ex-Guns drummer Matt Sorum. Regarding speculation that he was exiting VR to rejoin Guns N' Roses, Slash said, "It was like all these rumors going around. So I just wanted to dispel that one. That one and the fact that I ever had a conversation with (GNR frontman W. Axl Rose) at all."Axl recently alleged that Slash had come to his house one morning last fall and made disparaging comments about his VR bandmates. Slash said that Rose "fabricated" the story, adding, "It's just blatantly untrue. For one, I have not talked to the guy in any way, shape or form since 1996, so it's going on 11 years...There's just no truth to it."
Sorum discussed bumping into Rose in New York recently, saying, "It was very pleasant, actually, but we were both drunk, so that helped."
Slash said that he had been unaware of the rumors regarding him, Guns and Velvet Revolver, insisting that he'd been "minding my own business, sitting at home, working on the songs" for the next Velvet Revolver album.
The guitarist also denied that he was getting a divorce from his second wife. He and Sorum said that Velvet Revolver is still in pre-production for its sophomore CD, but that the band has recorded a new song for the upcoming animated feature, Monster House.
