Vedder: New Pearl Jam CD is aggressive
Pearl Jam releases its self-titled eighth album on Tuesday, May 2nd, the group's first collection of all-new material since 2002's Riot Act. While this is the longest that the band has taken between studio efforts, singer Eddie Vedder said that the band took the extra time to make exactly the album they wanted: "It's hard to be objective. The challenge is to hear it fresh in order to know if it's good enough, if we were satisfied. And for some reason we weren't satisfied until it got to a certain place. And that's not to say we overthought it, but we're pleased with how it evolved and where it ended up. It's a pretty aggressive record, and for that, I am thankful." Pearl Jam will perform a mini-concert on Thursday (May 4th) at the Ed Sullivan Theatre in Manhattan, just after taping an appearance on Late Show With David Letterman that will air later that evening.
To see the concert, go to cbs.com/latenight/lateshow on May 4th at approximately 5:55 P.M. ET, when the performance is expected to begin.
The band will also play a surprise show this Friday (May 5th) in New York City.
Pearl Jam begins a North American tour on May 9th in Toronto, Canada, with dates stretching into late July.
