Aerosmith leaders to rock Boston

Steven Tyler and Joe Perry will take a break from making the new Aerosmith record next week to salute America. Tyler and Perry have accepted an invitation to join the Boston Pops orchestra on July 4th on The Esplanade in Boston, and the event will air live on CBS, according to the Boston Globe. Pops conductor Keith Lockhart said, "I've been saying for a long time that Boston's two favorite bands really needed to join forces for this event, and I'm so happy we finally get to do it this year." There's been no comment from the Aerosmith camp, and it's unknown what Tyler and Perry will do on the night.

Aerosmith and the the Pops tried to get together back in 2004, but the band was traveling from the U.S. to Japan and the scheduling just couldn't be worked out.

The classic rock legends are working on a new album that should be out in the early part of next year. They're also getting ready for a fall tour with Motley Crue.
