Deep Purple frontman plots solo tour
Ian Gillan wanted to do a solo tour this year behind his new album called Gillan's Inn, and he's getting his wish. A gap has opened up in Deep Purple's itinerary, and Gilan has filled it with a month-long run of North American dates that begin August 16th in Buffalo, New York. The tour currently ends on September 17th in Las Vegas, but Gillan expects to add some more gigs to the schedule. It will be a change for the legendary vocalist to play some of the smaller venues that have been announced, but he told us he's looking forward to it: "That's what Gillan's Inn is all about. Gillan's Inn is not about arenas, it's not about amphitheaters. Gillan's Inn is a pub, where you can see the white's of everyone's eyes -- don't shoot, 'till they get right up close, and then let go."
