Slash puts away GNR, loads revolver

Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash denied that he was ever approached to play with his former band, Guns N' Roses, at the group's four New York City concerts last month. Slash said, "I don't know where (the rumors come) from, but I haven't dealt with Guns N' Roses any more than I have in the last 10 years. So it's not really a thing with me. I have, in the foreseeable future, no re-involvement with that band whatsoever." Fellow ex-guitarist Izzy Stradlin' did show up during the New York stint, which were the first Guns N' Roses live shows since December of 2002. Singer W. Axl Rose is the band's sole remaining original member.

Slash said that Velvet Revolver is in pre-production on its second album, titled Libertad, and that it sounds "amazing." He added, "I'm just really excited 'cause hopefully we'll get this thing out before the year's over. The material is amazing and...we've grown so much as a band."

Libertad, which is Spanish for "liberty," will follow up the group's double platinum 2004 debut, Contraband.

The former GNR guitarist also recently composed some music for the score of the new movie, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.

Meanwhile, Velvet Revolver has added a new date to its short upcoming run of late July concerts. The new date is July 27th at the San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino in Highland, California.
