Slipknot DVD in the works
Slipknot guitarist Mick Thomson told Billboard.com on Monday, June 5th, that the group is working on a follow-up to its 2002 DVD, Disasterpieces. Thomson said the disc will show a lighter side of the masked rockers, explaining, "It's going to be different than our last one. Our last one mostly focused on the concert, and this one is going to have a lot more personal stuff on it. You get to see more stupid shit (laughs). There'll be some music and stuff, but you're getting to see what our days are like. It should be a lot more fun."
There is no title or release date for the DVD yet, but it could be out later this year.
Although Slipknot is currently on hiatus while various members work on side projects, Thomson said he expects that the group's fourth album will start coming together by the end of the year: "The core that writes the songs tend to get together -- it's not as easy to work out stuff when you've got nine people standing in the same room. I would say we'll start working within the next few months...Very slowly, no pressure."
Thomson has been performing at guitar clinics in recent months and also writing some solo material.
Singer Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root will release the second album from their other band, Stone Sour, in July. Percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan is slated to work with his side group, To My Surprise, while drummer Joey Jordison is touring this summer with Ministry.
The last Slipknot album, Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses), came out in the spring of 2004.
