Korn guitarist starting record label
Korn guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer has announced plans to form his own record company, according to Blabbermouth.net. Shaffer told a nationally broadcast radio program on Monday (July 17th) that he's putting together a "really eclectic label that's only for the artists." Shaffer added that he has three acts he wants to sign and that the company will be "multi-genre," incorporating rock, jazz, hip-hop and other styles. Shaffer has not revealed a name for the new venture.
Korn played two songs acoustically on Tuesday night (July 18th) on ABC-TV's Jimmy Kimmel Live. The performance marked only the second national television appearance ever by Korn, and just the second unplugged performance of the band's career.
The band will begin its headlining stint on the Family Values tour on July 27th in Virginia Beach, Virginia, with Deftones, Stone Sour, 10 Years, Flyleaf and others.
The band has added a handful of solo headlining dates around Family Values stops, including August 1st in Orlando, Florida, August 8th in Corpus Christi, Texas, and August 9th in Oklahoma City.
