Ozzy Osbourne moves to 2nd Ozzfest stage

Ozzy Osbourne apparently likes getting down and dirty with Ozzfest crowds because he's just announced that he'll play another two shows on the festival's second stage. The July 16th show in Chicago and August 6th stop in Bristow, Virginia will find the tour's namesake leaving the main stage to co-headliners Disturbed and System Of A Down while he plays an afternoon set on the second stage, bringing his total of appearances there to nine. This is the first time in Ozfest's 11-year history that Osbourne is not headlining the tour either by himself or with Black Sabbath, and the singer has never performed on the second stage until now.

Ozzy is also set to play a solo, non-Ozzfest date this Friday (July 14th) in Kansas City, Missouri with openers Black Label Society, Atreyu and Unearth.

Meanwhile, Ozzy and guitarist Zakk Wylde, who also fronts Black Label Society, have been writing songs for the vocalist's first all-new album since 2001's Down To Earth. Wylde told Billboard.com, "There's a bunch of kick-ass stuff on there. It is just ass-kicking, heavy stuff, and we've got the ballads, some piano stuff and some acoustic stuff."

Wylde said he expected work on the album to accelerate once Ozzfest finishes this summer's run. A release date has not yet been set. Black Label Society's sixth album, Shot To Hell, arrives on September 19th.
