Paul Simon says he calls the shots on solo tours
Paul Simon says that touring solo is a completely different experience from hitting the road with Art Garfunkel. Simon, who's out on tour in support of his 10th solo album, titled Surprise, told The Associated Press that the buck stops with him on his solo treks, explaining that, "The situation with Artie was unique. I really had to think about what would serve that show the best... But when I'm doing my own show, I do what I want to do with the show. I don't have to share responsibilities."
Simon & Garfunkel's record breaking 2003-2004 reunion tour is chronicled on the Old Friends: Live On Stage CD and DVD.
Simon's current tour features a handful of Simon&Garfunkel songs, including "Mrs. Robinson," "Cecilia," "The Only Living Boy In New York," and "The Boxer."
In addition to performing material from his new album, including the Oscar-nominated "Father And Daughter," his shows have so far included solo hits such as "Slip Slidin' Away," "Loves Me Like A Rock," "Me And Julio Down By The Schoolyard," "Still Crazy After All These Years," "You Can Call Me Al," among others.
Paul Simon will perform on Friday, July 7th, in Essex Junction, Vermont at the Champlain Valley Expo.
