Peter Frampton signature acoustic guitar
A Peter Frampton signature acoustic guitar is on the way from high-end instrument maker Martin Guitars. Frampton worked with the company to come up with the D-42 "Frampton's Camel" Signature Edition, which is an updated version of the Martin D-45 he bought in 1971 when he left Humble Pie. He used that guitar to write and record most of his 1973 album Frampton's Camel, but it was stolen in Ohio while on tour that year. The new instrument has a camel inlay on the headstock and is signed by both Frampton and Martin head C.F. Martin IV. Frampton said, "It's terrific. The guitar is perfectly balanced and plays like a dream. It's new but already sounds better than my original D-45."The limited-edition guitar must be ordered through an authorized Martin dealer by September 15th, and the suggested list price is $7,799. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the instrument will go to the Musicares MAP Fund to assist musicians in their time of need.
The guitarist's next show is on Friday, July 28th, with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic in Wappingers Falls, New York.
He'll release an instrumental album called Fingerprints on September 12th.
