Police guitarist Andy Summers to publish memoirs
Police guitarist Andy Summers will publish his autobiography this fall. The book is titled One Train Later -- A Memoir, and it details his life and relationships with Police bandmates Sting and Stewart Copeland, as well as with Eric Clapton and the late Jimi Hendrix and John Belushi, among others. The title One Train Later refers to the fact that after pretty much coming up empty in California, Summers returned to England, where a chance meeting with Copeland on a train led to Summers joining the Police. One Train Later is due October 3rd.The guitarist told billboard.com, "I've had a fairly amazing life and I've been very lucky. I've been in on all the amazing moments and I've lived through very colorful decades."
He is also working on a Police photo history from shots he took. That book should be out next spring.
In addition, Summers has a few musical projects in the works -- a guitar duet album with Ben Verdery; the score to the upcoming Danny DeVito movie One Part Sugar; and a trip to Brazil late this year to perform and record with guitarist Roberto Menescal.
