Raconteurs start first full US tour

The Raconteurs open their first full-length U.S. tour this Sunday (July 16th) in Denver, Colorado, with dates scheduled through the end of September. The quartet is supporting its debut album, Broken Boy Soldiers, which came out this past May. Singer and guitarist Jack White told us that audiences who have seen the band so far have had their expectations challenged: "A lot of people have been sort of pleasantly surprised about certain things they thought on the record, when they saw us live, that it was not what they thought it was going to be played, or who it was going to be played by. So that's a nice bonus, you know. I like to know who did what eventually after I've heard something 20 times, you know. Sometimes you don't know until you read about it in a book somewhere, you know."

The Raconteurs will also make a stop in Chicago on August 4th for a performance at this year's Lollapalooza.

Jack White told San Diego CityBeat this week that the group already has enough material written for its second album, but didn't say when they might get a chance to record it. White explained, "I just record when it's time to record. I've always let it go the way it's supposed to go. For example, (the 2003 White Stripes album) Elephant sat on the shelf for a year before it came out...But I had to record the album right away."

White added that he does intend to record and tour with the White Stripes again, but has not hinted when he and drummer Meg White might reunite.
