Red Hot Chili Peppers sell 1m "Stadiums"

The Red Hot Chili Peppers' new double CD, Stadium Arcadium, was recently certified platinum for sales of over one million copies. The band members themselves have called it the best album of their career, and bassist Flea said that's because the group was in a great place when they recorded it: "We were all happy, all healthy, all sane, all working hard, and all respecting each other's opinions, so, like, basically at our best creatively, individually, and at our best in doing our communal, democratic creative process, which is, as you can imagine, difficult sometimes with, like, four rock star egomaniacs."

Tool's latest release, 10,000 Days, was also awarded platinum status, while Nickelback's All The Right Reasons and Audioslave's self-titled 2002 debut both reached the triple platinum mark.

"Dani California," the first single from Stadium Arcadium, remains at or near the top of the rock radio charts. The set's next single is "Tell Me Baby."

The Chili Peppers will headline Lollapalooza in Chicago in early August, before beginning a North American tour on August 11th in Portland, Oregon.

The band will also co-headline with the Who the first U.S. version of England's long-running Virgin or "V" Festival, scheduled for September 23rd at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland.
