Rolling Stones welcome World Cup heroes
The Rolling Stones opened the European leg of their A Bigger Bang tour on Tuesday night (July 11th) in Milan, and they made it a special night for the Italian audience. When the band played "As Tears Go By," Mick Jagger sang the lyrics in Italian. And just before the encore, Italy's World Cup-winning goals were shown on the big screens, after which the Italian players Alessandro Del Piero and Marco Materazzi joined the band onstage. Materazzi is the player whom French star Zinedine Zidane head-butted during the championship game, and according to the U.K. newspaper The Guardian, Jagger joked to the crowd in Italian, "Materazzi and Richards have something in common tonight -- they both recently had head-related problems."The next stop for the Stones is Friday (July 14th) in Vienna, Austria. They will next play Germany, France, Holland, Switzerland, Portugal and Spain.
In August they play four dates in the UK before ending their tour in September in Norway and Denmark.
