White Stripes getting orchestral treatment
A number of songs by the White Stripes are getting more than the duo's standard guitar-voice-and-drums treatment on an upcoming album called Aluminium. According to NME.com, Aluminium is a collection of avant-garde orchestral versions of Stripes songs that will be released on October 17th in a limited run of 3,333 copies. The new versions of the songs will also be heard at a London exhibition of the work of artist Rob Jones, who has designed posters, CD and DVD covers, lunchboxes, scarves and T-shirts for the Stripes, along with their website.
The exhibition begins this Saturday (July 29th) at the Richard Goodall Gallery in Manchester, England and will run through September 23rd.
Jones is one of the U.S.'s leading poster designers, having worked with the Strokes, the Killers and others in addition to the White Stripes.
The White Stripes are currently on hiatus while frontman Jack White tours with his other band, the Raconteurs.
