The Who booked for multi-act festival
The Who have announced a new date for their North American tour. The band will play the first-ever Virgin Festival in Baltimore on September 23rd, and the bill also includes the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gnarls Barkley, Keane, and many others. The event takes place at Pimlico Race Course, where the Triple Crown horse race the Preakness is held every spring, and promoters hope to draw 60,000 fans. It's unknown whether the Who will also play the Virgin Fest in Toronto on September 9th and 10th.The Who has already played a number of festivals in Europe this year, and singer-guitarist Pete Townshend said there's been some internal pressure to book those kind of shows: "You know, I had a son in 1989, he's 16 now, he's grown up -- he wants to come and see the Who at rock festivals, so I come."
The next stop for the Who is on Tuesday, July 18th, in Metz, France. The North American dates get underway September 12th in Philadelphia.
