Alice In Chains announce fall tour
The reunited Alice In Chains has announced a 40-date fall U.S. tour that will kick off September 22nd at the Joint in Las Vegas and wrap up November 26th in San Francisco. This follows a six-city club tour earlier this year, as well as a series of European festival dates -- the group's first road work since frontman Layne Staley died in 2002. William Duvall, who's worked on guitarist Jerry Cantrell's solo projects, will continue to fill Staley's spot. A fan club pre-sale will begin Monday (August 14th) at the aliceinchains.com web site, while general public sales will start August 19th.
Among those applauding the band's return is Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell, an Alice In Chains contemporary when he was a member of fellow Seattle band Soundgarden in the '90s. Cornell told us he's been happy to see Cantrell, bassist Mike Inez and drummer Sean Kinney working together again: "What they're doing, I think, is pretty heroic, going back out and trying to put, trying to maybe put a different ending to that band than the one that they were left with and kinda just change their reality a little bit. I just think that's amazing."
A new compilation, The Essential Alice In Chains, comes out September 5th, featuring 28 songs culled from the group's four albums, two EPs, and the soundtrack to Last Action Hero.
